Gangsta Granny Looking For A Partner In Crime

By  |

THE SEARCH IS ON TO FIND A LOCAL DANCER TO JOIN CAST OF DAVID WALLIAMS’ HIT SHOW FOR CHESTER DATES

Birmingham Stage Company, the acclaimed producers of the hit David Walliams play Gangsta Granny, are looking for a local young dancer to play a small but crucial part in the show when it plays at Storyhouse Chester from 11-14 April as part of its current UK tour.

Producers are interested in hearing from female dancers aged 18 and over with a playing age of 11-12 years for this exciting opportunity.

Anyone wishing to be considered for the role should send a demo video of herself performing a short modern/disco piece to gangstagranny@birminghamstage.com

The successful dancer will then be sent a video of the 2-minute dance she will be performing in the show to learn the choreography.

To be considered for this paid role applicants must be available for all Gangsta Granny performances, both daytimes and evenings, at Storyhouse Chester during the run.

Neal Foster, the show’s director, said today: “This is a really good opportunity for a young dancer just starting in the profession to get a great addition to the CV as well as gain valuable on stage experience acting with a professional company in a show rated 4 stars by national critics. We envisage full houses at Storyhouse so the girl chosen will have a week to remember, dancing a solo in front of huge enthusiastic audiences. Whoever is selected will find it a wonderful and unforgettable experience!”

Gangsta Granny is the story of Ben and his grandmother. It’s Friday night and Ben knows that means only one thing – staying with Granny! There will be cabbage soup, cabbage pie and cabbage cake, and Ben knows one thing for sure, it’s going to be so boring. But what Ben doesn’t know is that Granny has a secret – and Friday nights are about to get more exciting than he could ever imagine as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with his very own Gangsta Granny! “All you can do in this life is follow your dreams. Otherwise you’re just wasting your time” Gangsta Granny

Gangsta Granny is a must for all families as the show will be enjoyed by everyone from five to 105. It’s both laugh out loud funny and thrilling but also has some very moving and truthful things to say about family relationships.

The show was premiered in 2015 and has been touring the UK ever since as well as enjoying a West End season in summer 2017.

What the reviewers are saying:

“Kids loved this show. Every comic opportunity is grasped” – The Daily Telegraph ****

“Brilliantly adapted and directed, this is a cracker of a show! Totally grantastic!” – Mail on Sunday ****
