BAFTAS: Casualty scooped the Best Soap award

Casualty scooped the BAFTAs award for Best Television Soap and Continuing Drama much to the shock of soap fans.

The longest-running medical drama in the world was the surprise champion in a category filled with seasoned soaps Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and 2017 trophy holder Emmerdale.

This meant BBC soap EastEnders – who scooped the same gong two years ago – didn’t even get a look in.
