Howard Philpott has died aged 63  [BBC]

The 63 year old worked as an newsreader for the popular radio station for 13 years. 

Previously starting at the BBC as a trainee studio manager in 1975, the star then began working for Radio 4, which he said had been a childhood ambition.

Howard’s wife Nic said he “adored radio – it was his life”.

Today senior announcer Chris Aldridge said that Howard was a “much-loved and respected” newsreader.
