Coming up roses; the Dutch Flower Shop Secures Lucrative Echo Arena Liverpool Contract

Business history has been made by mother and son team Loraine and Daniel Whittle of The Dutch Flower Shop, who recently announced that after a lengthy tender period, they have beaten intense competition to secure a lucrative two year contract to supply flowers to the Echo Arena Liverpool and the neighbouring convention centre.

Their team of talented floral designers will create breathtaking displays for a host of exciting Echo Arena Liverpool events, including concerts by international stars, business conventions and exhibitions. Securing the contract is an impressive business coup for The Dutch Flower Shop, meaning their outstanding floral displays will be showcased to thousands of Echo Arena Liverpool visitors.

The contract will ensure that the family business takes centre stage and Echo Arena Liverpool will soon be coming up roses thanks to the striking creations of The Dutch Flower Shop. There will be a host of interesting aspects to the contract, from arranging bouquets for conferences to designing floral garlands for pop stars to wear in their hair.

Founded by Loraine Whittle almost 35 years ago, The Dutch Flower Shop based in Woolton is one of the longest standing family-run businesses in the region. When she started off with just a small delivery van many years ago, she never dreamed that she would one day secure one of the most prestigious contracts in the business.

Loraine Whittle said: ‘I have enjoyed so many amazing highlights throughout the course of my career at The Dutch Flower Shop and I am very excited to see what the future will hold now that we have secured such a prestigious contract with Echo Arena Liverpool. Along with their peerless reputation comes a loyal client-base, some of whom such as Barbara Daley Salons have been customers for over 25 years. Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club are amongst their famous clients too. The Dutch Flower Shop provides flowers for the football clubs and the players, having catered to players such as Steven Gerrard over the years. Both Liverpool Football Club manager Brendan Rodgers and Everton manager Roberto Martinez also enjoy their floral creations.

The Dutch Flower Shop can also count a number of highly respected corporate clients amongst their loyal customers, such as Hilton, Indigo and Hard Day’s Night hotels.

Over the years, The Dutch Flower Shop has risen to many exciting challenges such as providing flowers for Paul McCartney and creating bouquets for VIP visitors to Liverpool such as The Queen, Princess Diana, Pope John Paul II and The Duchess of Cambridge. Their floral displays have also featured in well known television programmes such as Hollyoaks and This Morning.

The Dutch Flower Shop frequently appears in the press, and they have been featured in several prestigious titles such as Hello and Vogue. They were one of ‘Coleen’s Secrets’ in Vogue magazine, when Coleen Rooney revealed them to be her favourite florist.

With in-house vans delivering from Southport to Manchester and national deliveries through courier services, there are a range of delivery options available to suit the clients of The Dutch Flower Shop both on a regional and national scale.

Offering freshness which cannot be beaten and A-grade quality, The Dutch Flower shop outshines their competition in a number of ways. They are one of the only florists to order their flowers whilst they are still being grown, meaning they have the pick of the most exquisite and premium blooms.

 

The day after an order has been placed; flowers are delivered directly from Holland to The Dutch Flower Shop. Their flowers are 60-70 % longer lasting due to these rapid overnight deliveries and the flowers retain their optimal freshness in a special conditioning room prior to being arranged into bouquets and delivered to clients.

Supplying flowers for every occasion including weddings, christenings and funerals, their creations celebrate life’s milestones and The Dutch Flower shop has frequently provided flowers to a number of well-known charitable organisations too, such as Claire House Children’s Hospice, Cash for Kids, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, The James Bulger Memorial Trust and The Anthony Walker Foundation.

 

Supporting the work of charities is important to The Dutch Flower Shop as they enjoy forging strong ties with the local Liverpool community. In 2008, The Dutch Flower Shop was delighted to be a part of the once in a lifetime Capital of Culture celebrations in Liverpool, when they created a ‘Capital of Culture’ rose for the occasion.

The Dutch Flower Shop provides weekly flowers to many restaurants in the region with plans to supply many more fine dining restaurants in the near future. They have also supplied flowers to many famous stores such as Cricket and John Lewis.

 

The Dutch Flower Shop is now entering a new era, with Daniel Whittle driving the business forward. Key plans are in place for pop-up floral boutiques, champagne and flower arranging luncheons and eventually expansion with a local presence throughout the North-West. The Dutch Flower Shop is also planning exciting VIP parties to celebrate beautiful flowers such as peonies, where guests will enjoy gourmet food and champagne whilst surrounded by the beautiful blooms. Further plans are in place for the creation of The Dutch Flower School, an academy which will train people in the art of floral design. They will offer a variety of courses and events tailored both towards academic needs and flower arranging for pleasure.
