CAU Set To Open 11th And largest UK Restaurant In Liverpool 5th June 2015
CAU, the sister restaurant to the successful Gaucho group which operates 14 restaurants in the United Kingdom including sites in Manchester and Leeds, launched in 2012 and currently comprises ten sites in the UK including Bristol, Guildford and Cambridge as well as three London restaurants. CAU Liverpool will mark the group’s second restaurant in the North of England following the opening of CAU Wilmslow in February of this year. CAU will be adding to the herd in the coming months with restaurants in Reading, Bath and Birmingham.
Occupying part of the ground floor of the Queen Insurance Building, with a frontage on to Castle Street, CAU Liverpool will be the group’s largest UK restaurant to date occupying 6000 square feet and seating 150 covers including an outside terrace for al fresco dining (additional 50 covers). The key design motifs that have come to characterise a CAU restaurant will be in evidence; including corrugated booth seating and sky and grass imagery. The huge windows will mean, at least when it’s sunny, that the blue sky motifs employed by the brand will be replaced by the real thing!
Marketing Director Charley Springall says: “We see Liverpool as city that shares the same values as we do – it is vibrant, joyous and passionate and we hope that Liverpudlians will be as excited to see us as we are to see them.”
CAU Food & Drink
Grass-fed Argentinian beef is prominent on the all-day menu at CAU, which also includes twice-cooked pork belly, fresh market fish and moreish chicken salad amongst dishes that are influenced by the melting pot that is Buenos Aires.
CAU is not your everyday ‘high street’ restaurant, from the quality of the fresh produce, daily on-site preparation of all elements, to the design and fit out of the restaurant and kitchen – a coal fired oven forms the centre piece of the CAU kitchen, to the CAU own brand wines which will be available at CAU Liverpool. Each of the wines has been lovingly crafted by Phil Crozier, Gaucho and CAU’s Director of Wines and specifically introduced to accompany some of the premium dishes on the menu.
The CAU menu changes with the seasons, but their classic steak highlights including a Tira de Ancho, often referred to as ‘the king of steaks’; a spiral cut of rib-eye, marinated in chimichurri and grilled slowly for maximum tenderness and the Lomito, a fillet of rump which is considered the finest cut in Argentina, combining the flavour of rump and the tenderness of fillet are available all year round.
These premium cuts are just part of an accessible all day menu that includes brunch with an Argentinian twist (the CAU Breakfast, sweet potato & chorizo hash, Latin eggs – grilled avocado, poached eggs on a muffin with a drizzle of chimichurri or steak and eggs) and a knock out Sunday Roast with all the trimmings: roast rump of beef, Yorkshire pudding, Josper roast carrots, beef fat roast potatoes.
In short CAU intends to bring something new and genuinely different to the casual dining market in the area.
CAU in the Community
As with all the restaurants in the group the team at CAU Liverpool will be getting actively involved in the community supporting local charities.
