New Mediterranean Restaurant ‘ Cargo ‘ Hits Liverpool Water Front

By  |
A new, stylish upmarket restaurant, bar and deli is set to open in August at Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
Offering spectacular, breath-taking views of the River Mersey, Cargo will bring a taste of the Mediterranean to the city.
The eatery based at Princes Dock will offer fresh, quality, locally-sourced cuisine served by warm, friendly staff in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.
Cargo is located on the ground floor of Alexandra Tower and, with its outdoor seating, is perfect for a spot of alfresco dining on those warmer days.
By day, customers can enjoy the tranquil environment and watch the sea vessels and ferries pass by on the Mersey and the canal boats as they meander though the Leeds-Liverpool canal link which runs through the dock.
By night, the thriving waterfront area offers a fantastic array of lively bars, cafes and restaurants.
Cargo is family friendly and a perfect venue for everything from a quick espresso with a friend or an informal business meeting to a romantic dinner or cocktails with a group of friends in the evening.
This fabulous independent restaurant boasts mouth-watering menus devised by a Cypriot chef-manager for authentic flavours of the Med that really tantalise the tastebuds.
Cargo is committed to using only the finest ingredients and will serve up a range of meat and fish from the grill, including sizzling steaks, pork and lamb chops, calamari, octopus and fresh seabass.
The thrice-cooked chips are to die for –
golden crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside.
Also on the menu are pastas, sandwiches and salads and devilishly delicious desserts including pistachio cake, carrot cake and tiramisu from Caz’s Cakes. Cargo also offers a wonderful and extensive wine list.
The restaurant is committed to using only the finest carefully-selected ingredients from local companies including Edge and Sons butchers in WIrral, the Liverpool Cheese Company in Woolton and Joe Black Coffee in Bootle.
The scrumptious range of deli delights include cold meats, olives, cheeses, hummus and pâtés.
Cargo is owned by husband-and-wife-team Angela and Terry Connor, who feel that the newly developed Princes Dock is an exciting location which is set to flourish further over the next couple of years.
Angela said: “We chose the name Cargo in keeping with where we are situated and the history that this location has, we really are looking forward to what the future holds both for us and also Princes Dock itself.
“We are a family-run business and are keen for our restaurant to have a relaxed atmosphere where guests can bring their own children, dine and enjoy great food.
“We intend to make Cargo a brand that is synonymous with quality and comfort and hope that our guests see our menus as fresh and different to what they may have tried before.”
Cargo is just a stone’s throw from the famous Liver Buildings and the Mersey Ferry Terminal.
There is a whole host of things to do in the area including enjoying world-class contemporary art at Tate Liverpool or exploring the impressive Merseytime Martime Museum or Museum of Liverpool. Cargo provides the perfect pit stop for refueling after a day out.
Parking is available at Princes Dock and on Saturday and Sundays costs just £2.50 for all day (between 8am and 6pm).
