At the weekend I was invited to the VIP launch of Amanzi. The new glamorous restaurant meaning water which wouldn’t be out of place in London or New York but the owners decided to launch in Liverpool at the old Newz Bar venue in Water Street.The launch party was typical of PR guru Paul Knowles with all the regional glitterati attending and a host of paparazzi outside snapping away all night. I was expecting to see the former Newz bar changed slightly but wow what a transformation. The once dark nightclub, which was popular with celebrities, is now a bright and stylish new restaurant with three bars for pre or post-dinner drinks.
The menu boasts a broad selection of fish and seafood dishes and the steaks are 38 day dry hung, rather than the 28 day version, which is popular in many good restaurants. The menu also features fabulous king crab flown in from Canada and in keeping with the Canadian theme, the exclusive Iceberg Vodka, which is described as the best vodka in the world. Iceberg Vodka is popular with many celebrities including Coleen Rooney who recently tweeted pictures with the brand. Unfortunately Coleen couldn’t attend the launch due to other commitments. However she said: “Amanzi looks amazing. I can’t wait to come and visit”.
The cocktails were to die for and the food reminded me of Hakkassan another one of my favs! This is definitely the new place to be and be seen for lunch or dinner or just a drink after work. I’m sure it will be a hit as it’s not all about the looks, the cocktails and food is out of the world.
Amanzi is now open and taking reservations for their big celebration on Boxing Night and New Year’s Eve with various set menus and booth options.
